To The Moon Alice....

A girls adventures and struggles to get to the top of the makeup world, while maintaining a loving relationship with her supportive love. Aim for the moon, if you miss you'll still land among the stars.

  1. Thank you!

Hey everyone!  Just wanted to thank all of you for the support and love you’ve given me in the past year and letting you all know that I am striving forward no matter the outcome!

I’ve submitted my papers to IATSE, am seriously looking at competing in a few competitions for makeup, and am enjoying life to the fullest!  Year of the snake, I’ve decided, is going to see my envy, jealousy, and regret shed away because I’m not going to get anywhere lingering on the past and even on others.  It doesn’t benefit my goals and my ideals.

But wow, do you have to deal with a lot of rejection in this world to get there.  I can honestly see how some people break under the pressure of the world.  All I can say is stick to it and be strong!

    See ya soon!

  2. Working

Just finished our art piece for Spectrum submissions this year.  I’m very excited as my skills have gone up substantially from the year before.  One of the things that I am getting a little antsy about is the fact that I cannot do foam latex.

Unfortunately in our city we don’t have a good SFX schools.  I would have to travel to Vancouver to learn the trade so, instead, this year I’m resolving to order a whole schwak load of stuff from online and learn via DVD and hands on good ol’ trial and error.

    Until Next Time!

  3. On a Break

Dreams, strength, power, and determination, oh my!

After sticking it through with Poker Girls and finding that I can be a powerhouse unto myself….I am on a break…Sort of.

While on this break I’ve found myself picking up work with my agency, taking freelance jobs, doing creatives (missed them so hard), and generally finding time to take care of myself personally as well.

I miss being on set a lot but I need a few weeks at least to nourish my relationship a little, spend time with my kitty and contemplate the addition of a new kitty (to be decided today) into our family.

Yup I’m loving my life and enjoying every little thing it throws me.  Even this dangblasted wisdom tooth thing.  It is my first time ever having stitches.  That’s pretty cool.  ;)

Well, off to work!  Talk to you soon!

    Yours,

    Ames

  4. Television Series

From student to where I wanted to be.  That’s what I’m seeing right now.

I’m on set, doing what I love and wanting to continue doing it.  I feel so strong and proud of all that I’ve done.

I’m so happy that I had such a huge network of help to get here.  So many people and too many to mention names.

    Thank you everyone.  So much.

  5. CASTING CALL VIDEO SHOOT - CALGARY

    Attention all Zombie lovers!
DMacstudios will be shooting a video teaser for an upcoming special Zombie project and we are looking for five Zombie actors and another 3 - 5 human actors.

You must be available to shoot the video on either the afternoon of September 13th or Sunday the 16th. The shoot will be approximately 4 hours with additional time for makeup being around 4 hours

    for application.

Full prosthetic makeup effects are going to be used so you will need to not be allergic to latex or stage makeup. We need men and women. If there is a mother child combination for the human side that would be wonderful.

Our actors will be receiving passes to Screamfest (hint hint) and a Screamfest t-shirt of their choice.

This casting call ends September 10th. If you are interested please message DMacstudios or David MacKenzie via facebook or email DMacstudios@gmail.com
    Stay classy folks!

  6. IMATS Vancouver (Lists)

I’m writing piles and piles of lists to make sure that I don’t forget anything.

    Shopping Lists

    Lists for our house sitter

Lists of what to bring for the Makeup

Lists of what to bring for myself.

Holy moly there’s a lot of lists.

I’m gonna be dreaming about this I think.

  7. IMATS Vancouver (Prep)

The makeup is almost there.   I’ve gone through like a bajillion revisions but I think I finally found what I’m looking for.  Now to decide if the world is better with airbrush or sponging (I personally am fond of the former).

    Gonna try both out tomorrow!

Hair design is done, hair piece is done, costume is almost done (by the AMAZING Sheepish Couture) and she’s hopefully also making a dress for me to wear so I can show off her work even more!

Stress is still high, but you know what, that’s fine with me.  Like my friend Jackie said, take that use it to give you an edge.  Don’t let the nerves control you.

Well, I’ll do my best, here in planning and at the IMATS on July 21st.  I don’t think that anyone can be disappointed in me, including myself, if I give this monster my very very best shot.

  8. IMATS Vancouver

Holy Moly last week I got the news but it really hasn’t set in until I started working on the project!  I’m competing in the IMATS Vancouver competition and I’m so nervous!

This is a huge step towards my goal of being international as a makeup artist.  This has been one of my biggest goals since I started doing makeup, and to be here finally!

    I want to dance EVERYWHERE!!!

  9. Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation

It has occurred to me that it really is who you know in an industry that can help you meet the most amazing people.

Take for example just recently a whole handful of women who help with fund raising for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.  Now, I personally haven’t known or met anyone with breast cancer but to be given the opportunity to be humbled by all these amazingly strong women is… I have no words at all.

So, I will be working with them as the lead makeup artist for the project and I think, thus far, this is the greatest accomplishment I’ve ever done, even above Vogue.  Because I make these women smile and that’s really important to me.

Here’s to this amazing project.  May all the blessings of the universe favor it’s success!
